Drinks, packaged foods, dairy products increase double-congestion growth in march quarters: Bizom

While the trend of rural demand continues for urban consumption FMCG Industry is decreasing to signaling early green shoots that appear in inter -different urban consumption. According to data done from Retail Intelligence Platform, Bizom, the sales of FMCG goods in non-urban areas saw an increase of 13.8 percent in the March quarter year-on March quarter. In urban India, FMCG sales in the terms of value saw an increase of 10.3 percent during this period. Categories such as packed food, beverages and dairy products saw an increase of high double digits in terms of value.

During the January-March period, the sale of drinks was 19.6 percent in terms of value compared to the same period last year. At the same time, during this period, the terms of the price increased by 16.2 percent in the sales packed, while the sale of commodities increased by 17.9 percent. The selling price of dairy products increased by 16.6 percent, compared to the same period in 2024, the increase in sales of chocolate and confectionery segment in terms of price compared to the March quarter was 9.2 percent.

Categories such as home care and personal care saw an increase in single digits. The selling price growth of the home care segment was estimated at 8.3 percent. But the consumption of individual care segment looked dull with a price increase of 4.5 percent.

FMCG industry

According to estimates by the Retail Intelligence platform, the FMCG industry registered a price increase of 12.4 percent.

Bizom, Analytics Head, Harshit Bora said, “In 2024, development was mainly given in rural detail. However, in 2025, urban development is gaining momentum and reducing the difference with rural development.”

He said, “Retail sellers are now stocking large packs in large quantities. The number of retailers buying large packs has increased by 6 percent, while medium pack buyers have seen a 10 percent increase,” he said.

A senior executive with a packed food company, who did not desire not to identify, said, “The packed food section has started looking at an optic in sales in urban markets. So we are watching some early green shoots in urban markets. With a good monsoon income tax exemption and benefits, we hope to start some recovery in quarter coming in urban markets.”
