CMRL to increase non-fare revenue through strategic property development at major metro stations

Chennai Metro Rail Limited has signed a contract agreement for preparation of a Detailed Project Report (DPR) for asset development at Alandur, Alapakkam Junction, Boat Club, Nandanam and Wimco Nagar Depot in CMRL Phase 1 and Phase 2.

The contract has been awarded to Jones Lang LaSalle Property Consultants India Private Limited at a value of ₹67 lakh (excluding GST).

CMRL plans to generate fare revenue as well as non-fare revenue by integrating the property development with metro stations at Alandur and Alapakkam and Nandanam, Boat Club and Wimco Nagar depot. Alapakkam PD is integrated with the entry/exit of Phase2 station through FOB. Nandanam PD will be integrated with the upcoming Phase-2 underground station. Alandur PD will be integrated with Phase 1 and Phase 2 metro stations.

The property development will have eight floors above the existing metro building at Wimco Nagar Depot station.

According to a release, the final DPR will be available in 150 days from the LOA.
