Maruti Suzuki India On Friday, November 1, it recorded its highest ever monthly sales in October 2024, increasing four per cent year-on-year (YoY) to 2,06,434 units as against 1,99,217 units sold in the same month last year. The ongoing festive season in India and huge discounts being offered by various automakers have helped automotive dealers sell more cars in October.
Maruti Suzuki India’s October sales
Maruti Suzuki India’s total domestic passenger vehicle sales stood at 1,59,591 units last month, compared to 1,68,047 units in the same month a year ago, registering a year-on-year decline of five percent. Sales of mini-segment cars, including Alto and S-Presso, declined to 10,687 units in October 2023 from 14,568 units.
Sales of compact cars including Baleno, Celerio, Dezire, Ignis, Swift, Tour S and WagonR declined to 65,948 units from 80,662 units in the year-ago month. Utility vehicles including Brezza, Grand Vitara, Ertiga and XL6 witnessed sales of 70,644 units last month as against 59,147 units earlier.
Van Eeco sales stood at 11,653 units last month as against 12,975 units in the same month last year, while light commercial vehicle Super Carry sales stood at 3,539 units as against 3,894 units earlier. Maruti Suzuki India’s exports in October stood at 33,168 units, compared to 21,951 units in the same month last year.
Meanwhile, Maruti Suzuki India recently reached an important milestone, with its Manesar facility crossing the 1 crore cumulative production mark. The Manesar plant achieved this feat in 18 years, making it the fastest among Suzuki’s global automobile manufacturing facilities to reach the 1 crore production milestone.
The facility, which began operations in October 2006, is spread over 600 acres and manufactures a range of models including the Brezza, Ertiga, XL6, Ciaz, DZire, Wagon R, S-Presso and Celerio. These vehicles serve domestic and international markets with exports to regions such as Latin America, the Middle East, Africa and neighboring Asian countries.
Since its inception, Maruti Suzuki has produced more than 3.1 crore vehicles, cementing its leadership in the Indian automotive industry. Maruti Suzuki India Limited also started exports of its acclaimed ‘Made-in-India’ SUV, the Fronx. Shares of Maruti Suzuki India last closed with a decline of 1.59 percent. Maruti Suzuki Q2 Results
Maruti Suzuki India reports 17 percent decline in net profit year-on-year ₹3,069 crore for Q2FY25. The company’s revenue remained flat amid a decline in domestic sales volumes and a slowdown in demand. The automobile major’s operating performance also weakened for the quarter ending September 2024, with its margins seeing a decline.
Net profit for the quarter declined due to provision for Rs 837.6 crore was received as a result of withdrawal of indexation benefits as per the Finance Act 2024 and change in the tax rate on long-term capital gains on debt mutual funds.
Maruti Suzuki’s operating revenue grew marginally by 0.4 percent in the July-September quarter to Rs 37,202.8 crore 37,062.1 crore annually. At the operating level, the auto major’s earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA) fell 7.7 per cent during the quarter ended September. to Rs 4,417 crore 4,784 crore, while EBITDA margin declined by 100 basis points (bps) to 11.9 percent from 12.9 percent.
